Family residence is not a family visit visa

A search for family visa Bahrain can refer to a short visit or to dependent residence. This Bahrain family residence documents checklist covers residence preparation, mainly the employee-linked spouse and child services administered through LMRA. It does not explain tourist entry or family visit-visa applications.

Begin with the sponsor’s status, the relationship and the applicant’s current location. The route determines the checklist. A previous approval for another household is not evidence that the same conditions apply to yours; confirm current eligibility with the relevant official service.

Choose the LMRA or NPRA route before collecting documents

LMRA publishes separate residence services for an employee’s spouse and children. NPRA also has residence categories for other circumstances, including parents and older children under its conditions. These should not be combined into one undifferentiated family checklist.

The LMRA child service describes children up to age 24 and directs older dependants to NPRA’s applicable conditions. If the family member or sponsor does not fit the employee-linked route, use the relevant NPRA service instead. Income and other eligibility conditions must be checked for that specific category, not assumed from a generic salary figure online.

For help coordinating an eligible dependant’s file, see Keylink’s family residence support and confirm the applicable sponsor category.

Confirm who submits the employee-linked request

LMRA’s spouse service enables employers to request residence permits for their employees’ spouses. Its published instructions identify the authorised or responsible person on the establishment record as the submitting party. Arrange that responsibility before collecting the final upload set.

The employee, employer and adviser should agree who supplies records and who responds to official requests. Keep the establishment and sponsor information consistent across the file. An adviser’s preparation work cannot replace the authority’s assessment of the applicable sponsor conditions.

Prepare each dependant’s passport and existing record

Create a separate file for each applicant. Check passport spelling, date of birth and the relationship documents against the intended application. If a personal number has already been assigned, follow LMRA’s instructions on reusing it rather than treating the person as a new identity.

For an applicant already in Bahrain, review the existing permit status and the applicable official conditions. A renewed passport, an old personal number and an existing residence record can create different questions. Resolve the exact record that needs updating; do not assume one change automatically updates every authority.

Spouse checklist: marriage evidence and identity consistency

The official spouse-service catalogue lists passport and marriage-certificate evidence, with Arabic or English language instructions and case-dependent conditions. Read the requirements for your circumstances before ordering translation or authentication.

Compare the spouses’ names and other identity details across the certificate and passports. Nationality or passport-name conditions in the official wording should be clarified with LMRA where unclear. Do not simplify the guidance to either every marriage certificate needing the same stamps or a name in a passport always replacing the certificate.

  • Spouse passport: current details and requested pages
  • Marriage certificate: accepted form and Arabic/English requirement checked
  • Names and dates: compared with both parties’ identity records
  • Authentication or translation: current case-specific instruction confirmed

Child checklist: birth evidence and applicable family records

The child-service catalogue lists passport and birth-certificate evidence, including language and authentication conditions. Keep these rows separate from the spouse checklist; a marriage certificate and birth certificate answer different relationship questions.

If family circumstances require additional evidence, obtain the instruction for that case rather than inventing a universal attachment list. Record whether the authority needs an original, accepted copy or a particular translated form. Review each child’s details individually, even when applications are coordinated together.

  • Child passport and any previously assigned personal number
  • Birth certificate: identity and parent details compared
  • Language, original/copy and authentication conditions checked
  • Additional case-specific evidence: requirement confirmed with the authority

Confirm certificate authentication without repeating unnecessary steps

A foreign marriage or birth certificate may need authentication according to its issuing country, the applicable international route and the receiving service’s instructions. An apostille and an ordinary legalisation chain are not automatically cumulative steps.

Use the separate foreign-certificate guide to understand that decision. Here, record only the final requirement for the family file, the accepted translation and evidence that the relevant step has been completed. Authentication does not establish residence eligibility by itself.

Check newborn and replacement-passport situations

LMRA’s child service directs cases involving children born in Bahrain or issued a new passport there to open or update the NPRA record first. Confirm that instruction for the applicant’s situation before starting the LMRA request.

A record update is distinct from authenticating a birth certificate or obtaining residence approval. Keep the old/new document relationship where requested and save the update evidence. If instructions conflict, obtain clarification from the responsible authority rather than creating duplicate records to bypass the problem.

Track the file from submission to the final outcome

Before submission, mark each attachment as ready, conditional or unresolved. Keep originals accessible where requested, retain complete scans and record the authorised submitting person. After submission, save the reference and monitor official requests for clarification.

If the application is returned, correct the stated issue and retain the replacement version. Do not make non-refundable travel arrangements on the assumption that a complete file guarantees an approval date. Government fees and processing depend on the applicable request and current rules.

After approval, follow the authority’s next instructions and store the final residence record. Dependent residence is not itself an employment approval; confirm any work-authorisation route separately with LMRA rather than assuming the holder can work under every arrangement.

Questions to clarify before starting a family file

Can I use this for a family visit visa? No. Visit entry and dependent residence are different services.

Are parents covered by the same employee spouse-and-child checklist? Do not assume so. Check the appropriate NPRA category and its own conditions.

Does every applicant need a medical report or police certificate? Do not adopt a third-party universal list. Check the exact service and any case-specific instructions.

What should I tell Keylink? Explain the sponsor’s status, the family relationship, the applicant’s location and the issuing country of relationship documents. That allows a case-specific preparation scope rather than an unnecessary bundle of services.
